Forum Question 1 · "How many years does it really last?"
"How many years does smart film actually last — some say it yellows in 3 years, others say 10. Who do you believe?" — a typical customer thread
InHouse's answer: it depends on the grade and the environment — InHouse customers who had it installed back in 2014 (10+ years ago) are still using it well with no reports of yellowing or hazing, exactly as designed:
- · Indoor Series · 12+ years (= the market max for standard PDLC, 8–12 years)
- · Outdoor (Aquaris™) / Performance (Lucida™) · +80% boost (versus standard PDLC)
The film forums discuss as "yellowing in 3 years" is mostly low-grade PDLC with no anti-yellowing layer, whereas InHouse uses an anti-yellowing formula tested at 5x versus standard PDLC (anti-yellowing only · separate from the +80% lifespan).
Real Customer Reviews · 5 Stars
Office tower customer in the Sathorn area · ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
"We've had it in the CEO meeting room for 6 years now, still as clear as ever, no yellowing · the InHouse team comes to check it for us once a year for free · what impressed me most is the wiring is hidden so well you can hardly find it — visitors to the meeting usually don't realize it's smart film."
Installed 2019 · Indoor Series · 15 sqm · controlled by remote
Condo owner on Sukhumvit · ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
"Installed it in the bedroom facing the BTS road · clear by day for the view · instantly opaque at bedtime · toggled from my phone in Apple Home · during install you couldn't see the wiring at all, super seamless · more expensive than automatic curtains, but after 4 years it feels worth it because curtains break and need replacing too."
Installed 2021 · Indoor + Smart Home Hub · 12 sqm
Pool Villa owner in Phuket · ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
"The Pool Pavilion, glazed on 4 sides, is Smart Glass Aquaris™ · we can switch it opaque in the evening for privacy · it switches between opaque and clear in 1 second · guests ask every time where we got it · the InHouse team flies in to service it on schedule, consistently."
Installed 2022 · Smart Glass Aquaris™ · 28 sqm
Private hospital · Lab room · ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
"The diagnostic lab room · we use Performance + Lucida™, very clear, so you can see sample detail sharply · switched opaque for patient privacy during discussions · installed 3 years ago with no issues at all."
Installed 2023 · Performance Series Lucida™ · 18 sqm
Forum Question 2 · "Is it expensive to run?"
"If I install Smart Film across the whole home, 30 sqm · how much will the monthly power bill jump?"
Real customer answer: a home customer with 30 sqm installed, kept clear 6 hours a day — the power bill rose ~25–40 THB/month · because PDLC uses only ~3W/sqm/hr
For comparison: a 55" LED TV uses ~120W/hr, whereas 30 sqm of Smart Film = 90W/hr, which is less than the TV.
Forum Question 3 · "Can I install it in a condo?"
"I live in a condo · the glass is common property · can I install Smart Film, or do I need the juristic person's permission?"
Answer: you can, because Smart Film is a retrofit film applied to the inside of your unit's glass, not affecting the glass structure or the building's exterior appearance, so you don't need the juristic person's permission (per the common practice of most condos).
Smart Glass replaces the glass — that requires permission, and most condos don't allow it because it affects the facade · this is why 90%+ of condo customers choose Smart Film.
Straight-Talking Feedback · Limitations We Want You to Know
Not all feedback is positive — we've selected the limitations customers have mentioned so you can decide openly:
"You can't clean it with ordinary glass cleaner"
Some customers forget that Smart Film must be cleaned with only a feather duster or alcohol, never glass cleaner because it attacks the coating, whereas Smart Glass can be wiped normally since the film is inside the glass.
"A faint hum at the start"
The transformer emits a very faint sound, ~30 dB when you're close to it. Home customers who installed the transformer in the bedroom once gave feedback that they could hear it in dead silence, so InHouse adjusted the method by placing the transformer in an electrical cabinet outside the bedroom; after the change, the feedback went away.
"Expensive compared to curtains"
Some customers compare it to curtains at 5,000–8,000 THB. Smart film is indeed more expensive, but lasts 12+ years base and +80% boost, whereas curtains need replacing every 3–5 years. Customers who've had it 7+ years say "it's paid off".
"Mind the annual maintenance visits"
Some customers forget to request the annual Service Pack, so when the transformer had an issue in year 4 they had to wait for an appointment. InHouse now recommends registering for a Service Pack or joining the VIP LINE group for existing customers.

Frequently Asked Questions · Smart Film Reviews
Why are there so few smart film reviews online?
Because most smart film customers are organizations / premium-tier buyers who don't use public forums as their main channel · and most satisfied home customers simply stay quiet · so InHouse has gathered reviews from its Portfolio and customers' direct feedback and made them public in this article and on the Portfolio page.
Can I see reviews from customers who've had smart film the longest?
Yes · the sales team can point you to cases installed 10+ years ago whose owners consented to disclosure.
Are there any video reviews on YouTube/TikTok?
Yes · InHouse YouTube @inhouse-technology · TikTok @smartfilm · with Pure Clarity Test clips and real customer reviews · some customers post on their own channels too · search YouTube for "InHouse Smart Film review".
If I'm not happy after installing smart film, can I really get a refund?
The InHouse Confidence Policy states it clearly: if the delivered work fails the agreed acceptance standard → InHouse will remedy it or refund 100% per the agreed terms · this policy is in writing in every contract · see the example at Confidence Policy · Smart Film.
Does Smart Film really need replacing every 5 years?
That's a misconception carried over from low-grade PDLC · InHouse Indoor is 12+ years · Outdoor/Performance +80% boost · real customers from 2014 (10+ years) are still using it well · replacement is the customer's choice if they want to upgrade, not a requirement.
